Slide the cover downwards towards the key-ring until it becomes loose, and it falls off. Remove the cover to reveal the hidden key blade. This can be used to unlock your car from the driver's side in the event that the key fob battery is dead or has been lost.

How to Start Your Vehicle

The majority of modern vehicles are equipped with key fobs which can perform much more than just unlock or lock the doors. But what exactly is it that works?

Place the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into this slot and gently pry open the back of the fob for the key. Once the fob is opened, locate the CR2032 3V battery and remove it. Place a new battery in its spot and snap the fob back together.

Note: Some older Volvo models use an entirely different type of battery that is called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have 7 tenths of millimeters less than a CR2032, so you'll need be extremely cautious when replacing your battery.
