When I asked my son what he wanted to do on a rare weekday off, he said

Bowling!

I expected the place to be empty, but it wasn't

The lane next to us was full of kids

"Don't let the little ones get in."

My mother narrowed her eyes at how big he's gotten

Even so, my son had a good score and was in a good mood

After that, we had lunch

We went to a restaurant that I'd been interested in for a while, but hadn't had the courage to go in alone

I'd heard that the orange sign had turned brown? And the menu was more geared towards women?

I'd wanted to go there once

There was a time when I went to the entrance for lunch alone

but somehow I couldn't get in

When I went in with my son,

it was mostly counter seats

I was told, "Two people please," and we went to the only two table seats in the back

There's something called beef salad. Is this the one for women?

But it doesn't have any rice in it.

I wonder if there's anything else healthy to choose from.

There are so many menu items that even my son had trouble deciding...

They brought it over shortly

But we still couldn't finish it.

My son couldn't finish what I had left.

I probably won't be coming back.

But I'm satisfied now that I know what kind of shop it is.

On the way home, since it's rare for us to have a weekday off,

we stopped by our favorite cake shop, Gateau Ashi,

to buy a different cake than usual.

Afternoon tea time

My son chose a fresh white peach tart.

I chose Tarte Citron.

We chose it for its refreshing appearance and name,

and it was just as refreshing as the citron and yogurt cream marriage.

The meringue on the outside was crispy and had a citron flavor.

It's the perfect cake for this season.

I wanted to try the fresh white peach tart,

but by the time I realized it, I had finished it.
