If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumped chain link in the upper chain. However, the code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It is a little tricky to test because there are several connector pins, and each has its own functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms when it is at full operation. If you are having problems with this part, check for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a significant drop in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was unclean. When I start the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem persists at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars while the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not sure what to do. I think I've all other possibilities out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please share them! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles.
