The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item Level Upgrade's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
