volvo v90 key owners appreciate their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their car and start the engine, and even find it using a smartphone application.

Then, place the fob of the key on an even surface, with the logo side facing upwards. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin between the fob cover and the fob, and gently pull it up.

Unlocking the Door

Volvo's remote keyfobs allow you to unlock your car's doors, tailgate and flaps for filling with fuel with the push of the button. They also can switch on the ignition, set the alarm, and operate the sunroof if it's fitted. You'll never need to look for your keys, or lose access to your vehicle.

If you have a new Volvo model that we have in our dealership, then you may be unfamiliar with some of its key fob's hidden features. One of them is a manual lock/unlock button that you can press in the event your key fob battery dies.

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button Hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards. Find the black button which is near the edge of the key fob's body and press it gently to open a cover that conceals a manual key blade. This cover can be flipped clockwise using a flathead, or coin.

Starting the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide an experience of convenience and function that is unparalleled by manual keys. But, just like any other battery-powered electronic device the key fob may be depleted of its charge or cease working over time. If you've noticed that your key fob is less responsive to pressing the lock or unlock buttons, it's a good sign that it's in need of a new battery.

If your vehicle is fitted with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The vehicle will then heat or cool to the same setting it was set at when parked. It will operate for up to 15 minutes.

Remove the cover that covers the back of the key fob by using your fingernail. The button should be underneath the cover on an angle, close to the edge of the body. Slide it to the right. The cover will fall free and slide away leaving the manual key blade in! If you are unable to locate the button, take a look around the now-revealed manual key access to find a lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

Volvo key fobs feature an in-built feature that lets you to instantly open all windows. This is a great feature when you are trying to squeeze into tight parking spaces or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.

Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and also the sunroof in case your car has one. Then, when you're done with the car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button a second time for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob for activating your car's panic alarm. This will sound an intense, attention-grabbing roar which can deter thieves and allow you to return home at a safe distance after a night out. This feature is useful when you live in a dangerous area or wish to ensure the safety of your family while away from home.

The opening of the Tailgate

Volvo has loaded its key fob with many useful features. These are great when you're swamped with groceries or helping kids pack their sports equipment after practice.

For instance, if have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped), you can open it using the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it with the same button.

Use the key fob to ensure you are ready to start the vehicle. (Don't be worried if your battery fails or your car doesn't start because it also has a mechanical key slot). This is only one of many useful trick for your brand new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are more useful than a traditional car key. However, they're not able to work perfectly for long, and their batteries can eventually die. If you're in a hurry and aren't keen on going to a store to have your key fob reprogrammed, you can try to make it work at home.

Place your keys batteries, keys, and other keys on a clean surface. Find the small black button on the left-hand corner of the key fob and slide it to the right. The cover should come loose and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade underneath.

You can open all doors and the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's key twice. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you can also close the windows and shut the sunroof if they are equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If it doesn't work, the owner's manual should contain a procedure to reset the alarm.
