I'm glad you asked! Aren't you glad you asked? It is also the case that entire regions, in particular the West and East Coasts, have so much congestion on their transmission lines, that they cannot import the power they need. Could it have been a case of, "We liked them so much, we bought the company" perhaps? Then there's the replacement engine gauges, either Mitchell or that other company whose name I don't remember. And then the Horizon electronic tach. Then there's the SL-60 GPS/COM to replace my KY-97A (which is only a year old) and IIMorrow 612 Loran. I'll also glass over the hole in the nose bowl where the old Prestolite 1942 Ford Tractor starter stuck out in front: The B&C doesn't need that space! I don't think I need the space either. I'm not sure if there was a public right of way across the thing, but my family were on good terms with the owner and there were no crops growing in it or anything, so I was pretty sure that I was okay to cross it, and frankly with the cold I don't think anyone would've blamed me.
There are two different approaches to electrical transmission: Direct Current (DC, proposed by Edison) and Alternating Current (AC, proposed by Tesla). I always like to hear what other people are doing to their airplanes. That means cutting the channel off the aft edge of the upper cowl, adding angles on the fire wall along the flange to accept the cam-locks, and doing some patching where the channel has actually worn through the upper cowl. I don't like the hinge, particularly, and the cam-locks will allow the upper cowl to be removed just by lifting it straight up, and to go back on just as easily. I'd like to add a landing light in each wing tip, but I don't know what's actually involved. A single power supply under the pilot's seat will drive the wing tips and the tail. Some are made to work with extension cords, while others are used with power tools and other electrical equipment. At least for now, they are trying to keep up with the private labeled Japanese units and they are participating in the market. That is a huge market. Armstrong's present to his wife - a portable superheterodyne receiver, the world's first portable radio.
But "consumer advocates" opposed the utility's request to recoup the $145 million cost of replacement, on the grounds that the utility's records were not adequate to ensure the worst cables would be replaced first. Following the August 2003 blackout, which left 50 million people from the Midwest to the East Coast in the dark, what is electric cable multiple Congressional hearings and a Federal investigation were conducted to examine the problem and propose solutions. This strategy was implemented to perfection six years ago by Enron and other power pirates in California, which withheld power to raise prices through the roof, allowing them to steal tens of billions of dollars out of the pockets of electricity consumers throughout the West Coast. They transmit high-voltage power where the overhead lines are impractical to use and implement. Keep in mind however that installing these units outside in cold climates if there were a power outage, there is no freeze protection to these units until power is restored. I purchased four amateur printers and used one for parts as I restored the others. If I can fit one more instrument in there, I'd like to add an expanded-scale voltmeter.
If I can add two landing lights, I'll add one of those alternating landing light thingies. But, as can be seen on the illustration above, this could be bypassed with an extra dock and two tracks (this design was actually built on the Teltow canal). Obviously you did a lot of research, and your design looks sound overall. These things sound very useful and I know that you have very practical ideas about aircraft electrical needs. I don't have any of those things. I'll have to pull wiring, because my airplane wasn't built with it. I decided it's time to start spending money I don't have on the airplane instead of computers. Geeee I remember a time not too long ago that you were teasing me for having too many toys in my plane and I don't have any of those things. Yeah, time to spend it on something important like airplanes. I assume it was put there as ballast. I have put some very slippery teflon anti chafe tape on the part that slips into that flange part of the cowling.
