The item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up to 700 points and give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like perfect rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not change significantly after an upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. In some cases this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to rise until it requires the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also change the stats of their base. While this is usually an excellent thing but it can also have negative consequences too. Upgrades can make items impossible to use, unless you are extremely lucky.

Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their performance. For instance, if you have a helm or chest, this will increase its base defense while gloves and belts increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it could change its roll to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will gain when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has circular arrows within the menu for items. The item level upgrade will be rerolled and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's levels or connect to the status of your account.

Armor

Making a few improvements to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poison and fire as well as magic. This can make it easier to get through difficult terrains. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has, the more value you get from every point of health and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as much as possible.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four fountains in all, and each requires you to complete a specific side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each level will differ. You'll require anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

It isn't possible to upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor for physical strength or spell power. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock perks for your armor. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be beneficial to have a few upgrades of the chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around some monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, give the player with a temporary effect. There are five kinds of potions, each having particular effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, increasing the effectiveness of their effects. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.

Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or the chest of the Alchemist. However, the upgrade price will vary based on the type of potion you want to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.

To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI in which you can select the potions you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will yield when upgraded. Also, putting a potion on a full cauldron drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.

Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are brewed with dragon breath and splash potions. Similarly, a lingering potions' effect is extended by adding redstone to it. The potion table is now organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping and the potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket is a tiny and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be an ornament or object that serves a function but is not important, like a thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is a way to express friendship or affection between family members.

Trinkets can be upgraded by players in addition to weapons, armor, and potions. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Unlike other item upgrades, trinkets can be exchanged at will without losing their stats.

Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with gold, tokens or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrades to trinkets are an economical alternative to buying new ones. A player can upgrade a trinket with as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same level of base as the old trinket but will also have an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.

Once the old Trinkets have become no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their most important items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are upgraded first before their secondary gear and other equipment that they won't be replacing anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). When deciding which items to upgrade players must also take into account their class's preferred statistics. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player and they want to upgrade items their helm, chest and shoulders.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl after they're no longer needed and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket in the event that it is not saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying new ones.
