Path of Exile item level upgrade Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They boost the performance of the item level upgrade they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the level of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than it was before.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades give armor a greater number of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade the item can be given, as illustrated below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are continuously updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but can be found in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can give players a significant boost in stats, and are worth the investment.

A piece of armor upgraded to its maximum upgrade level will greatly boost its defense, but the player should be aware that increasing its weight will dramatically reduce its speed and agility. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, because the increase in defense is usually not worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade could enhance the damage caused by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Some weapons also have special upgrades that improve their innate capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by doing side quests, or killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Previously you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a certain amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to an increased rarity. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

You can still do this however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying gear with low upgrade item levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These will then have a chance at gaining you the highest tier perks and blessings.

To increase their level faster, many players be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. In addition to these players, they should think about upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to increase their power and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to make it more useful when accompanied by experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, where you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

The Jeweler can craft all tiers of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones which require a certain level to get. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped out with a jewel of the same kind without destroying the original one. However, you can only replace one jewel in an item upgrade of equipment only once.

It is typical to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and make a harder surface than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to the movement.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be swapped, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, cannot be swapped out, and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer a wide range of tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through performing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. Then, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player can acquire weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This enables the hero to be more effective when not active and may also help make up for a lack of a strong team or any slots from the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is true especially if you're looking to upgrade several stats on an item. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat instead of two subpar ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand they will select a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets that form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, finishing a chapter’s main quest or beating a boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
