The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. The ability to absorb damage of a piece armor will increase when it's upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. But, it's important to note that this will also raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than before.

There are several different types of armor upgrades available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade as indicated in the table below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require charges to use, which are shown by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades are updated every day or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the environment and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost in stats, and are well worth the cost.

A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will significantly increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. For this reason, it is not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is generally not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons come with special upgrades to improve their inherent qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades to weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to stores and buying equipment that has low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These will have a better chance of bringing you the most prestigious perks and blessings.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. They can be created through the process of jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem with various chemicals at a table. The higher the quality of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a jewel can be improved at the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a certain level to be able to get them. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out with a jewel of the same type without damaging it. You are able to replace the jewel once in an item upgrader of equipment.

It is common to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction from pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades additionally, players can get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active when the hero is not fighting. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps make up for a lack of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree that would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.

In general trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel of the item level upgrade that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item level upgrade. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat than two less important ones.

At the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and middle players usually choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

Aside from the items mentioned above, players can find a number of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards.
