Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending.
