Its sleek, angular style is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin auto-filling.

The only negative I found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. It is possible to change the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've found any plush carpet that the robot vacuum with mop crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of clever features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can set up and manage these via the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control on this model which is unfortunate considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40
