WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item level upgrade by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item upgrade from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item upgrading level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an Item Level Upgrade is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
