Upgrades can sometimes increase the power of a piece and at times even add additional features. The value of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements, and the amount of random augmentations that are applied.

For example, the elite shield of racial violence Razortail is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorb ability in PvP or to provide additional defenses on missile based builds in PvM. This makes it more tradeable than the un-upgraded version.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens let you buy a new item, such as an armor, weapon or ring. The item is replaced with an identical item upgrades however with different benefits. Reroll tokens are a cost-effective method of upgrading gear. They don't preserve the original item's level, and any resources wasted aren't rewarded.

Reroll tokens can be obtained by survivors by a variety of means like the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. They are also available in crates and chests, or buy them at the market for $150 each. Reroll tokens can be used to alter the attribute of an item for example, increasing its damage.

Players can reroll their equipment in three attributes: physical power, magic power, and health. Upgrades to physical power boost the damage of melee and weapons attack, while upgrades to spell power upgrade mage attacks and rings. Health upgrades give the player an additional level of health.

Three types of rerolls tokens are available such as upgrade rare, legendary and rare. Each upgrade elevates the item to a better quality. To create them, you need an upgrade level reroll token. Upgrades that are enhanced require a standard Best item upgrade, while rare upgrades require a unique or a legendary item, and legendary upgrades require three legendary items.

The marker for rerolling, unlike markers or tokens placed on action areas, remains on the space till the next Success is being rerolled. This helps you not waste upgrades.

Blueprints appear as envelopes at the start of each Preparation Stage, and can be opened by grabbing them using Interact. After deciding what to upgrade, players must then select the number of green Growth Stones they wish to utilize and pay the appropriate cost. Once the player has met the requirements, he is able to select the upgrade option and apply the Growth Stones. This will raise the item's level by a certain percentage. Items with upgraded base stats display the blue icon in their slot. Contrary to enchantments upgrade components do not stack with one another, and can only be added to one item at a time. Each upgrade component requires an amount of items and a minimum level of equipment.

The Upgrade Station is divided into two slots. On the left side, players can place an item that they wish to upgrade. On the right side, an image of the gear looks like at its next level. Once the player has enough items by pressing the yellow arrow, it will begin the upgrade process.

A piece of equipment can be upgraded up to five times. Each time the item is upgraded, its base stats will be increased by a small percentage. The maximum level for an item is 19.

Once an item reaches its maximum level and is no longer upgraded, it does not have the option to upgrade. When an item attains a certain upgrade track (e.g. Veteran or Explorer) upgrades for the track will be offered at a discount.

Upgrade components are a kind of equipment that can be put into armor, weapons trinkets and gathering tools to provide an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is equipped. They can be bought through vendors, looted or obtained through questing. They can also be traded between players. Upgrade components can be replaced with new ones, however doing so will destroy the previous upgrade, with the exception of for glyphs, which can be removed and replaced at will.

For example, the helm upgrade "Foundation of the Sun" increases base defense and adds an extra 20% chance of blocking. In addition, the dps upgrade "Wildfire" boosts weapon damage.

Some items benefit from being upgraded less for their increased stats, but because it allows players to get the most value out of a perfect roll on the item. A perfectly rolled 200/6500 armor set piece, for instance, is highly valued by melee PvP communities and can be worth as much as 20-50 times the non-upp’d version.

If you choose an upgrade component to slot into an item the game will show a pop-up window that shows the required requirements. The game will display the requirements required when you select an upgrade component to slot into an item.

The game will put an item in your inventory after you have fulfilled the requirements for an upgrade. The progress bar will update to show you how close you are to finishing the upgrade. You can also check the status of an upgrade by visiting any item upgrader NPC.
