It's quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. Its suction motor of 8,000pa makes short work of picking up dirt, droppings and pet hair. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the two side brushes help to tease out dirt from corners.

The mopping performance, while still impressive, is not as impressive. The rotating mop spins at a high speed and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and staining. I've also noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which is helpful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to scoop up larger debris like broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tried. It doesn't make the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming, and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a exclusive cleaning solution for mopping, and is separate from the vacuum. It is easy to install and performs well. However should you purchase this robot vacuum to mop it is important to be aware of this.

This can cause the X1 to become stuck if it is entangled in a blockage like a power cable tangled over a rug. It won't function until you remove it manually. Although this is not a common occurrence, it was a frustrating experience when it did happen, especially since the X1 Omni does not come with an "stuck" status alert on its app.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad however, mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It's a big departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing view in a market which is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
