WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrades has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the item being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which will show an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item Level Upgrade in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item upgrader kit level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for gear of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's Best item upgrade to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrade equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
